Terms of use
These terms cover the Peribolos software and the plans sold for it. By installing Peribolos, or by choosing a plan, you agree to them.
They are written in plain language on purpose. They have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. Nothing in them limits the rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be signed away.

Who we are
Peribolos is made and sold by Peribolos Pty Ltd (ACN 702 471 672, ABN 47 702 471 672), Victoria, Australia. "We" in these terms means Peribolos Pty Ltd. Write to us at contact@peribolos.app.
What Peribolos is
Peribolos is practice software you install on your own computer. Your clients, sessions, invoices, notes, recordings and clinical record are stored there, not on our servers. We cannot see them and have no way to retrieve them.
A few services run on our side: the relay that carries AI requests to Anthropic, the key page, the licence service that records your plan, the relay that hosts resource links you choose to share, and feedback you choose to send. Where your data goes lists every one of them, what each carries and how to turn it off. Privacy covers the rest.
Peribolos is in alpha. It is used every day in a working practice, and it is still changing quickly. Expect rough edges, and tell us when you hit one.
Free until 1 January 2027
Peribolos is free for everyone until 1 January 2027. Nothing is charged before then.
Plans and prices
The plans and their current prices are on peribolos.app. Prices are monthly, in Australian dollars, and include any GST that applies.
The founding rate. The first hundred people to choose a plan get it at the founding rate. That rate holds for three years from your first charge, provided your subscription runs without a break. After three years the plan moves to its standard price, and we will write to you before that happens.
Price changes. We will give you at least 30 days' notice before a standard price changes for you. A founding rate is not raised during its three years.
How billing works
- Choosing a plan during the free period puts your card on file with Stripe, our payment processor. Nothing is charged until 1 January 2027. We will email you at least 7 days before that first charge.
- From then on, your plan renews and is charged monthly on the same day, until you cancel.
- Your card details go to Stripe, never to us. Stripe's receipts come from Peribolos Pty Ltd.
- If a payment fails, we and Stripe will let you know and try again. Your records stay on your computer whatever happens to a payment.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time, in Peribolos under Settings → Account, or by writing to contact@peribolos.app.
- Cancel during the free period and nothing is ever charged.
- Cancel during a paid month and the plan runs to the end of the month you have paid for. No further charges are made.
- Cancelling changes your plan, not your data. Peribolos keeps opening, and everything you have written stays on your computer, readable and exportable.
Refunds
If we charge you in error, or Peribolos does not do what we said it would, write to us and we will put it right, including a refund where that is the fair outcome. Your rights to a repair, replacement or refund under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full.
Your data and your responsibilities
Because your practice lives on your computer, some things only you can do:
- Backups. Peribolos makes a nightly backup on the same computer. Keep a copy somewhere else as well: an encrypted external drive or a cloud folder. If the computer is lost and there is no other copy, the record is gone.
- Encryption. Turn on your computer's disk encryption (FileVault on a Mac, BitLocker on Windows) and use a password.
- Your obligations as a practitioner. Your privacy, record-keeping and professional obligations stay yours. Using Peribolos does not pass them to us.
- Breaches. If client information is exposed from your computer (theft, loss, malware, accidental sharing), you are the one with notification obligations.
- Insurance. Check that your professional indemnity cover extends to the software you use.
The AI features
When you workshop a note or a recording, or write in the Workshop, that content is de-identified on your computer and sent to Anthropic's Claude service, which processes it in the United States. Privacy sets out the cross-border detail. De-identification replaces the names on your client list and removes emails, phone numbers and similar identifiers. It is not perfect: a name that is not on your client list, or an unusual identifier, can pass through. Your own writing discipline is part of the safeguard.
What comes back is material for your thinking, not clinical advice. Peribolos is a documentation and practice tool. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, assess risk or recommend treatment. Read and edit everything before it goes into a clinical record. You were in the room; the software was not.
What you may not do
Don't resell Peribolos, repackage it as another product, share licence keys, or use its code or its clinical library to train machine-learning models. Using it in your own practice, and changing your own copy for your own use, is fine.
Our responsibility to you
We will provide Peribolos with due care and skill and fix problems we are responsible for. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you for anything outside the Australian Consumer Law guarantees is limited to what you have paid us in the previous twelve months.
We may stop providing Peribolos or a plan. If we do, we will give you reasonable notice, refund any period you have paid for and not received, and your records stay on your computer.
Changes to these terms
We will tell you before a change to these terms affects you, by email or in Peribolos. If you don't agree with a change, you can cancel before it takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia.
